Drunk Florida man kills wife and shoots teen stepdaughter in face then calls his sister before taking his own life after MNF Game
A drunken and Coked-Out Florida man killed his wife, shot his 13-year-old stepdaughter in the face and then took his own life in a petty argument over him wanting to watch “Monday Night Football,” according to cops.
Jason Kenney, 47, shot himself in a shed hours after gunning down his wife, Crystal Kenney, after she suggested he turn off the San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts game on Sunday, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said at a press conference.
Kenney had been drinking and the demand sparked a massive fight — bad enough that Crystal told her 12-year-old son to call 911.
The boy ran to a neighbor’s house, where he heard gunshots.
When police arrived at the Kenneys’ home, they found Crystal shot dead and her 13-year-old daughter shot in the face and shoulder.
The teen was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition where she is recovering — and was able to give cops a horrifying account of her ordeal.
“‘I begged him, don’t shoot me, don’t shoot me, don’t shoot me, and he shot me anyway,’” she told investigators, according to Judd.
The boy who fled was not hurt, nor was the couple’s 1-year-old daughter, who was found asleep in her crib, cops said.
Kenney, meanwhile, initially fled the scene and called his sister in upstate New York, telling her he had “done something” bad and they would never talk again.
He then drove to his father’s home where police tracked him down.
As deputies attempted to get him out of a shed, he fatally shot himself, Judd said.
During a search of the family’s home, deputies found a note Crystal wrote to her husband urging him to get help for his substance abuse.
“You’re drinking, you’re using cocaine again. This is not the way the family should be. You need God,” the note states, Judd said.
The surviving children are in the custody of their grandparents.
“The entire family was destroyed,” Judd said. “Our homicide detectives are distraught. When you go in there, there is a beautiful Christmas tree with lots of Christmas presents under it, just like the nuclear family should be.”
